Chris' Biography
Chris Davis is a sixth generation Nevadan. Chris' great-great-great-grandfather, Francis Lee, established the first permanent settlement in Southern Nevada. While growing up in Las Vegas, Chris learned the value of work from his father, Dr. Kent Davis, by building their own home. Chris’ Grandad (a general contractor) and his Grandpa (a master electrician) taught Chris all the skills necessary to build a house, from digging the foundation to shingling the roof.
After graduating a year early from Western High School where he was active in debate, Chris attended Brigham Young University and graduated with a B.A. in Political Science. He received his law degree from the University of Utah, where he was twice named as a William H. Leary Scholar. While attending the University of Utah, Chris discovered his greatest asset, Patty Anne Freese, and promptly married her.
Chris Davis has been practicing law for more than a decade and his breadth of experience is unmatched in the Department 14 race. He began his career as a litigator with the top rated firm McMurray, McMurray, Dale & Parkinson in Utah.
Chris then returned to Nevada to work for the Federal District Court and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, the second highest court in the country. Judge Lloyd D. George and Judge Johnnie B. Rawlinson became Chris' mentors. From these distinguished jurists, Chris learned firsthand how to run an honorable, efficient courtroom. While at the Ninth Circuit, Chris and Patty were blessed with the opportunity to go to Russia to adopt their only son Dallin. After working for the Federal Courts, Chris was recruited by the prestigious Las Vegas law firm of Morris Pickering & Peterson. He continued his lifelong commitment to public service by volunteering to serve on the Functional Equivalency Committee for the Nevada State Bar.
Because of his desire to return to public service full-time, Chris gave up litigating multi-million dollar cases to become a Deputy City Attorney with the City of North Las Vegas. He is involved in all areas of civil litigation for the City, including defending our police officers.
Chris is prepared to preside over the entire gamut of criminal and civil cases. Throughout his career he has dealt with criminal cases ranging from drug crimes to capital punishment cases and civil litigation ranging from multi-million dollar transactions to complex federal regulatory actions.
Chris first became acquainted with the ultimate importance of public service and the law from his Boy Scout leaders George Holt, soon to be Clark County District Attorney, and Devoe Heaton, United States Attorney for Nevada. Chris earned his Eagle Scout before age fourteen and has been active in the Boy Scouts of America ever since.
Chris currently lives in Las Vegas with his wife and their son. He now desires to use his talents and preparation on behalf of all of the citizens of Clark County, and serve as District Court Judge in Department 14 of the Eighth Judicial District in Nevada.
